What does Kaizen mean?
Kaizen is a Japanese word that means "Good Change" or "Change for the Better". It's the foundation for a continuous improvement culture that engages everyone in the organization from the CEO to operators. When you have a culture rooted in Kaizen, everyone understands that the current state condition is the worst state condition and we need to improve it! This mindset means that your organization is in a constant state of continuous improvement. Kaizen repels the fallacy that only Engineers can analyze and improve processes and embraces the notion that everyone can and must improve their process! Traditional systems place the onus on leadership and engineers to fix problems but this is a limiting mindset with limiting results. With Kaizen, everyone is expected to improve the processes they work everyday driving real change with sustained results! After all, they are the experts on their process!
